Say NO to AIDS

We, the department association, and the health club (77) together observed the AIDS  Day on 30 November 2018. Flash mob was conducted in the College ground. A short awareness video was presented and red ribbons were distributed.

   

Logo Competition- Environment month celebration

The Zoology Association conducted an inter-departmental logo competition in connection with the Natioanal Environment Awareness month celebration, in November 28 which we had 12 participants from different departments.
Athira Shaji (III B.Com Computer Application), Fathima Jamal (I B.Com Tax), Sharon Thomas       (I M.Sc. Zoology) bagged 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
A special appreciation prize was given to Rishika Ravi A.R.( I M.Sc. Zoology).

DIABETES dAY

Our Health club of our department in collaboration with the Government Taluk Hospital, Perumbavoor, the World diabetes Day was observed on Nov 14, 2018 in the College conference hall. Sessions on lifestyle and diabetes, and leprosy eradication was taken. A quiz was also conducted in connection with the same, wherein Ranju Raju (II M.Sc. Zoology) and Smruti S. (II M.Sc. Zoology) bagged 1st and 2nd prize respectively. 72 students participated in the sessions.
Blood screening for diabetes was done for around 100 samples.

Biodiversity loss -Survey and study

Under the initiative of the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, a team of 7, inclusive of two teachers visited various flood affected wards of the Koovappady Panchayath and did a rapid analysis of the biodiversity loss

Debate- "Kerala a victim of man-made disaster"

A heated debate was held between the 2nd and 3rd year students of B.Sc Zoology.. All the participants (40) spoke brilliantly..  But just due to precision o and accuracy the final years scored a little more than the juniors.. Good job participants...

Water sampling- Extension activity

Today, after noon, soon after lunch, we all together- (M.Sc Zoology, B.Sc Zoology, B.Sc. Chemistry- 65 Zoology students) marched past our college towards the neighboring wards which were badly affected during the recent floods in Kerala. Though we targeted Thodaparambu, due to requests from people on our way, we collected samples for water analysis from Poopani Ward 8,9,10,11....

The plight of most the houses were pathetic.

Food fest and Onam sale

In connection with the Onam celebrations, students from few departments arranged stalls in the College auditorium. It was real fun.. We too put up a stall, whose main attraction was-- Kappa-chutney, egg khajab, sambharam, payasam, fruit salad,etc.... other small handmade accesories were also sold.
It was an opening to marketing and enterprising skills among students .. We had 18 of them actively participating in it and we had an income of 425 rupees generated. ... Specials thanks to the College Union for such an oppurtunity!

Caption Meeee!!!!

A Caption Contest was held.... It was open to the entire College community in which we had 19 participants. It was based on the matter put up on the notice board (Zoology-Health)...
Anaswara Sajeev of #3rd BSc. Zoology came up with a cute caption and bagged the prize.

Slogan writing competition

A slogan writing competion was conducted by the Zoology association in connection with the Environment Day on June 5, 2018, in which 13 participated. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Vismaya P.R bagged the first prize. Prizes were distributed to the first three.
