ZOA inauguration and orientation

 The Zoology association (ZOA) for the current academic year was inaugurated by M/s Sany Mary Benjamin , Assistant Professor in Zoology,  Baselious College,Kottayam on 26 Dec 2020. The session by the guest served as a orientation for both the freshers and the seniors. The day was blessed with the presence of our principal, and teachers of the Department.  The Association secretary Ashna P.S. coordinated the entire event beautifully with the strong support of all ZOAns.  The first years made the day lively and joyous with their presentations. And so.... we had our ZOA inaugurated virtually this time with 65 participants. The resource person spoke on the Zoo era

Poetry writing competition

 An intercollegiate poetry writing competition was arranged in connection with the AIDS day.

Of the 3o entries received:

Ansal Sidheeque ( SSV, Valayanchirangara), Renju Reji ( Mar Thoma college for Women, Perumbavoor) secured 1st and 2nd positions respectively

Cash prizes were given to the best 2 entries.

Inter collegiate poster competition

 

An intercollegiate poster making competition was organised by the Govt Talluk homeo hospital, Muvattupuzha in connection with the International day for the elimination of violence against Women (Nov 25), innwhich Lakshmi Sankar Laiju of 1st BSc Zoology secured 4th prize. Congratulations 

Children's Day

 This time we thought we would host some event for the little ones on their day... A drawing competition... The entire program coordination was done by Ms. Feba Eldhose and the ZOA secretary Ms. Ashna P.S.

 A PTA of the Department of Zoology was conducted at 2.20pm on 11 Nov 2020.

Review writing

 Based on the orientation program conducted for the first years on  23rd October 2020  a review writing was organised. The best 3 reviews were rewarded.

International Day of Girlhood-Oct 11

In connection with the international day of girl child, we organised "La femme". An intercollegiate slogan writing contest as well a a Miss Cosmo contest (only for MTCW students).

The main rounds of the Miss Cosmo contest was held via Google meet... An altogether new experience. We had Ms. Supriya Susan Kurian, our librarian and Mrs. Lekshmi Mohan, IT admistrator, Vysheshika systems pvt ltd as our judges.

It was day filled with fun and stress too.. Things went well🎃. 

Dedicating the success of the entire event to the event coordinators--- need to specially mention the efforts taken by Renju and Shabana..💕

International Day for Older Persons (

 The Department of Zoology, Mar Thoma college for women,Perumbavoor is conducting an online survey on the "COVID effect on the elderly". This is done in observance of the International Day for Older Persons (October 1). 

Please encourge familiar elder persons (above 55yrs) to participate in the survey. It will serve a study purpose.

National webinar-2

 We hosted yet another National webinar on the 19th of September 2020, Saturday. There were 165 registrations of which there were participants from other states of India. Several faculty members from other colleges, students both from schools and colleges from different states, parents and others benefitted from. The session was led by Mrs. Sreeja Gopal, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, NSS College, Ottapalam

National Webinar 1

 We organised a National webinar on th 12 of Sept 2020. We had more than 270 registered entries for the program from 46 different institutions. Housewives, students and teachers both school and college level benefitted from.the session.

Photography contest

 It being the World Photography Day on August 19, 2020, the department of zoology conducted an online mobile photography contest.

Environment day 2020

Amidst Covid 19, keeping away from the regular practice of cleaning and planting,  we (51 students and 2 teachers) did carbon foot printing. It was posted in social media groups on June 5th

Now what is carbon foot printing?
It is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of the activities of a particular individual, organization, or community

We just tried to understand  our contribution to global warming... and yaay... our dept on an average is far below the national average 👍👍👍👍
